Iranian Cinema






Our cinema after revolution step by step improved and now is one of the most serious cinemas all over the world. Although anybody in this industry faces a lot of difficulty to carry on a movie but Iranian film makers have already found the way to express their thoughts. The way is more related to their knowledge and understanding about the life around. Sometimes you can trace their philosophy in some of their movies, and in last 3 nights I could trace and get their opinion as they showed.

1- Gavkhooni is a new genre for Afkhami and express a sad and nostalgic look of young generation to their situation where they floating from one dream to another one. It shows how a sweet dream could be transformed to a real night mare!! It is a serious issue that pulls audience up to a new thought to investigate why the river ends to Gavkhooni and what's the attraction of this flow, that everybody could be interesting to try once , even though to risk the life to reach to the river ends.
Obviously for some people this subject seems to be complicated, but it’s a movie full of thoughts, like a poem for some viewers with a certain regards.

2-Mam’s guest has two layers and if you are familiar with the philosophy of film maker (Darioush Mehrjui), you can discover the story behind and enjoy more. The surface shows a movie in a comedy genre and the viewer would smile and cry with the characters of different levels with common pains. An ordinary visit of a new couple would become a great party with all neighbors and happiness will be shared equal between them by their hands.

3-Friday’s soldiers as a film by Masood Kimiaeei presents the familiar opinion of the director to the subject called human being, friendship and independent life. He has his own edits in his latest movie. His alphabets are still the same but the condition is different and he knows how to describe the situation. He addresses his solutions and tries to prove that he knows people, their small world and feels their pains. He recommends individual revenge for the time being against any kind of oppression. I might be disagreeing with his resolutions but I have to admit that he knows how to say what he believes.
If it’s true that the movie, had been shorten about 20- 30 minutes, we have to admire film maker who didn’t give up and carried it out in someway that viewers can understand what is going on with the story.

I could see end of river (GAVKHOONI), happiness after pains with (MAM'S GUEST), and… an action, (FRIDAY’ SOLDEIRS). It was not on purpose but the three nights, three movies became a triple, somehow related to each other.

I believe that some of Iranian film makers are really great artists and they have a lot of things to say,and this is the big difference between Iranian cinema before and after revolution.
