Visiting of an onyx quarry was the reason for going to Bijar in Kurdistan which is famous for its Rugs.
Often called the Iron Rugs of Persia. The Bijar is a heavy durable rug that has been very popular in the United States. Most Bijars are woven by Kurds.

The city compare to what I had seen 5 years ago, has improved and was almost clean. The quarry and quarry men were woeful because of poor production but the trip was almost good especially the lunch in a Restaurant called Kurdistan. At the begging of revolution a mayor pushed the owner to change the name of the restaurant with no reason! He resisted and the mayor ordered to be closed. The owner followed the case for 15 years and finally took the ex-mayor to the e court and condemned him!!
When drinkable water causes Cancer!!
There was a fountain near by Bijar for drinking consumption of the villages around, where the figure of cancer was upper than normal. After so many years research and studies they found out that the water of that spring contains arsenic, which is a cancer factor.
From Bijar I drove to Qorveh to finalize over there and after dinner about 22.20, I left Qorveh to Tehran (about 450 k. m.)
During these nights we have the ceremonies of Imam Hussein anniversary, heading to Tasoa and Ashoura. I found out that in Kurdistan (Bijar and Qorveh) people are taking part in the ceremonies more than my expectation.
